"It's nice to see ya here, Vic." A thick southern accent chimed. "Welcome to my tunnels."
The place he called tunnels was dirty and disorganized. Not any better than Victor's room. Nickoli grinned, face covered in dirt and dust. He proudly told Victor he made these tunnels as his room. Nickoli had a room just like all the others who lived here. Only used it as an entrance to his dark and hidden mineshaft. Nickoli had railroad tracks on the ground with lights here and there.
"This place is a mess." They were robbers. They robbed banks and other fine establishments with the others of the team.
"I think it looks fine, Viccy."
"Don't call me that."
"Alright"
"Gentleman asked that you not cave the house in. And I'm here to check the wiring for the house."
Victor followed the overly talkative Nickoli deeper into the tunnels. There he found the wires and became to look at them.
"So, one time my buddy Moe and I were in the mineshaft I was interning at and it caved in for the first time in my life. Now, Moe was scared of the dark and I was 'Don't worry Moeey boy. We will be fine.' I happen to have a spoon from my soup I had. And I dug our way out!" Nickoli grinned happily and Victor was still working. Victor felt there was a part of the story missing. He never talked about what happened after he and Moe got out.
"What happens next?"
"What ever do you mean, Vic?"
"You never finish that story. What happens next?" Victor stood up from kneeling and sat next to his dirt covered friend.
Nickoli went silent. As if he didn't want to go on with the rest of the story. But Victor was one of his best friends. Ever since they met when he had to break Victor out of the asylum.
"When we got out. It turns out, Moe had died. I dragged his body up out of the hole and...it turns out he was died..." The miner fell silent.
Victor then felt like he had done something wrong. But couldn't tell.
"Moe wouldn't want you feeling done, Nick."
Nickoli jumped up and grinned. "I know! That's why I won't be sad any longer! He wouldn't like that." Arms wrapped around Victor's neck. Dirt getting on his bright green jacket.
"Ack! Get off me!"
"I'm sorry. I'm just so glad you wanted to hear my story!" The other chimed happily.
"You're welcome..." Victor smiled a bit then frowned when Nickoli stated
"You should take off the hood and hat and sun glasses. I want to see your face!"
"NO"
I was totally speaking to myself in interesting accents as I read your dialogue here...I could get a sense of the kind of guy you were going for with both Nic and Vic. And that ending...Nice.
