Clown Party

Albert and Mike sat at the table. The man would be here with the items they need. If he wasn't, the boss would kill them. They sat and waited. Watching the people dance. It was the state fair this year around this time. So, many people from all over the state came to see it. The waves under the dock helped to add a romantic mood. So many couples were here. They ether danced or talked

A man with white and red face paint sat in front of them. He took off his red nose. It honked when it was gripped tightly. The man mumbled and grumbled and with a rough voice he said
"My name is Clain."
The cilent was here. Finally. He was only 2 hours late. But that didn't matter. He was here. The sooner they get the goods the better.
The clown calmly lit his cigarette with a match. The a fast shake of the hand, the fire on the match was blown out.
"Here you are."
The clown woman set a bag on the table. It had everything that would keep them alive and the boss wouldn't kill them. Albert reached for the bag but the clown man grabbed his hand.
"Tell him. He needs to keep his word. I expect my pay and for my things back." Then he sat back in his seat. It made a sharp sound when his weight was pushed into the back of the chair. It wasn't made to hold big men like him up this much.
Albert grabbed the bag and stood up. Mike stood next to him and they took their leave. To the train they had to catch before it was too late.

  1. This is an intriguing story! I'd like to know more about these men and the dire circumstances they are under. I like the detail you included about the chair creaking under the man's weight and the one about the nose honking when the clown took it off. Also the waves under the dock. Nice imagery to set the scene.

  2. I like how you juxtapose the seriousness of the deal - the looming threat of the boss - with the clown nose that honks when he takes it off his face.
