The Carousel

Ever since I was young, I've always wanted to go to the carnival. My father said he would take me there someday. Finally, that day was here. It was sun down. The lights on all the rides were light up. Everyone around me was having a great time. Screams of joy from the roller coaster rang out. The joy was everywhere. The carnival food smelled great. It was so much better than I had imagined!

I went on all the rides. Soon my father was worn out and was resting on a park bench near the carousel. It had no one on it and it said "Out of order" But I just wanted to see it. This was my last ride to get on. I skipped over to it. Looking at the colorful horses. I climbed over the fence under the curtain. Black, red, white, unicorn and Pegasus. They had all the kinds of horses. I ran over to the unicorn. Stuck in a running pose forever. Eyes wide open. They were fine, why are they out of order?

I looked at them all and got on one, the unicorn. I heard something. It sounded like a start up engine. Then I began to move as did everything else. I was spinning. So were the other horses. Round and round we went. It was fun but after a while, it didn't stop. I looked over my shoulder for someone operating it. but no one was there. Just me.

Then I noticed one of the horses blinked. And another moved. Slowly, the horses began to act like they were alive. They were moving, even the unicorn started to move. I tried to get down but the ground was moving to fast. If I fell off, I'd get trampled. If I stayed on, I'd never leave this cursed place. My dad will save me!

But he never did, time outside the curtain was stopped. No one moved. Nothing moved. The horses and myself were the only things 'alive'. The horses who entered the shadowed place came out with fangs and looked evil and sounded evil. Soon, the shadow came to me and my horse. We entered. But only the unicorn came out, just as evil as the others. The last thing I saw was black.
